Australia’s leading travel trade media platform, Karryon is launching a new quarterly travel publication, Luxury Unpacked.
The ‘rich-content’ e-magazine is a response to growing demand for credible, purpose-led luxury travel storytelling that goes well beyond purely descriptive travel features, and comes as the sector continues to surge.
According to recent market analysis*, the global luxury travel market was valued at more than US$2 trillion in 2025 and is forecast to exceed US$4 trillion by 2033, driven by increasing demand for high-end, experiential and values-driven travel.
Long established as Australia’s most trusted travel trade publication, Karryon has seen increased growth in engagement from the B2C audience, particularly in the area of luxury.
The independently owned media company now reaches more than four million travellers and travel professionals each month across its digital platforms, creating a unique hybrid opportunity at the intersection of trade authority and consumer inspiration.

“Since launching 13 years ago, Karryon has continued to grow by staying true to its role as the go-to platform for credible, thought-provoking industry news,” says Karryon founder Matt Leedham.
“We are a purpose-driven brand that connects and empowers the travel community through storytelling, innovation and collaboration, and that ethos increasingly extends into the consumer space.
“This evolution has created a rare position in the Australian travel landscape, and we are walking the talk. Following the launch of the Luxury Unpacked podcast last year, we are now bringing the brand to life through a dedicated luxury travel magazine, with further initiatives to follow as part of a broader Luxury Unpacked ecosystem.
“The Luxury Unpacked podcast, hosted by Fiona Dalton, explored everything from the best airline seats for long-haul travel to luxe-washing and proved a huge success, so much so, we are launching another season shortly.”

Published quarterly, Luxury Unpacked will be themed by edition, with in-depth features around key topics that shape the future of luxury travel. The inaugural issue will focus on innovation, examining how new ideas, technologies, experiences, and ways of thinking are redefining the sector.
Designed first and foremost as a premium, immersive e-magazine, Luxury Unpacked will also be supported by a short run of print copies for select distribution.
A defining feature of the publication is its focus on people, including luxury travel advisors.
“Karryon has long showcased the position of luxury advisors, who are trusted experts and storytellers, and we will continue to do so, while also enabling them to use the magazine as a practical, client-facing inspiration and engagement tool,” says Leedham.
This people-first approach reflects Karryon’s long-standing Together in Travel ethos, recognising that meaningful luxury travel experiences are built on relationships, expertise and human connection.

The new title will be edited by Karryon Luxury Editor Kirstie Bedford, who brings more than 30 years of media experience, including editorial leadership across seven publications.
“This is a natural and exciting evolution for Karryon following the launch of our luxury digital platform, e-newsletters and podcast series,” says Bedford.
“Luxury Unpacked is not a traditional luxury travel magazine. It is a rich content platform designed to go deeper into the stories, people, and thinking shaping modern luxury travel.
“Each edition will have a clear overarching theme with features focused on travelling with purpose, culture, cuisine, cruise, destinations and wellness. These will not be ‘fluff’ pieces; we are committed to providing thought-provoking features that educate readers.”
