Los Angeles-bound? Victorians and other Australian travellers will soon have more choice when flying to the US, with DeIta Air Lines announcing it will increase the capacity on its Melbourne-Los Angeles route from later this year.
Starting 13 October 2026, the route will grow from three to four flights per week, then increase again to five per week on 27 October.
The route, which launched in early December 2025, will then increase to a daily service from 22 December for the busy summer holiday period to March 2027.
Currently flying out of Melbourne on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, Delta’s fourth flight will depart on Tuesdays before the fifth service commences on Thursdays.

Delta is the only carrier operating the A350 between Melbourne and United States, with the airline’s refitted A350-900 – flown this route – boasting more Delta One Suites (40) and Delta Premium Select seats (40) than the original configuration. Read more about Delta’s entry into Melbourne here.
In January, Melbourne Airport experienced its strongest-ever month of international travel, with extra airline capacity and major events such as the Australian Open and the Ashes series driving the surge.

In other Delta news, the airline has announced it will double its Delta First cabin on several of its new A321neos to 44 seats starting in May.
The configuration will be used while the airline awaits delivery of flatbed suites for the aircraft.
“Sometimes the supply chain throws us a curve. Rather than wait, we chose to implement a creative solution to ensure our customers had access to some of our newest aircraft in time for the summer travel season,” Delta vice president of Customer Experience Design Mauricio Parise said.
KARRYON UNPACKS: More Delta capacity to Los Angeles strengthens competition and premium choice from Melbourne. For travel advisors, daily A350 services mean sharper pricing, better availability and stronger US sales opportunities through peak summer demand.
