Door left open: Why this NSW agency came back to Travellers Choice

Travellers Choice welcomed its fourth returning member in 12 months with NSW agency South Coast Cruise & Travel rejoining the national independent retail network after embarking on a “professional gap year”.

South Coast Cruise & Travel is back in the Travellers Choice fold after Managing Director Lindy Herron took a year off in 2024 to “reassess, recalibrate and explore new perspectives”.

Herron purchased South Coast Cruise & Travel in 2001, establishing herself in the travel industry after a career in ICU and emergency nursing.

The Nowra-based travel business first joined the network of independent agencies in 2007.

“Taking time out allowed me to objectively assess what delivers genuine commercial value,” Herron said.

She noted the tangible commercial advantages provided by the network’s marketing capability, supplier relationships and strategic leadership as reasons for her return.

“Travellers Choice provides a strong, transparent financial framework, competitive override structures and a cost-effective fee model that directly supports profitability,” Herron said.

“As an independent agency, being aligned with a forward-thinking network enhances both our margins and our credibility.”

Herron said the decision to return to the network was ultimately an easy one.

“Travellers Choice left the door wide open for me to return, so there was no hesitation in thinking which way I would go when the time was right,” she said.

The Australia-wide network welcomed four new members late last year with WA-based Au Revoir Travel & Cruise also returning in 2025 after a 15-year hiatus.
