Jetstar will launch a new JQ Perth-Christchurch route seasonally in October 2026, representing the only low-fare trans-Tasman flight option between the two cities.
The thrice-weekly JQ Perth-Christchurch route will run from 27 October 2026 to 27 March 2026, coinciding with the seasonal pause of Jetstar’s Perth-Singapore flights between 25 October 2026 and 27 March 2027.
The re-established JQ Perth-Christchurch direct route will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, using its Perth-based Airbus A321LR aircraft and adding more than 30,000 seats between the cities.

The JQ Perth-Christchurch route launch supports strong outbound leisure demand in WA with more than 700,000 West Australians flying Jetstar internationally in 2025.
In addition, the low-cost carrier will continue its Perth expansion with a new cabin crew base at Perth Airport to open in the upcoming months, supporting up to 90 staff.

JQ’s investment in Perth is facilitated by a pipeline of new NEO aircraft joining the airline’s fleet, freeing up existing aircraft and creating new flying opportunities on its domestic and international network.
This newest WA route launch comes less than 18 months after JQ opened an aircraft and pilot base in the west to support the continued growth of its local operations.

Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully said JQ is committed to looking west for future growth opportunities and upping its trans-Tasman network.
“We’re thrilled to be launching our new nonstop service between Perth and Christchurch, giving West Australians an affordable and convenient way to connect with New Zealand’s South Island with its alpine adventures, coastal escapes and world-class wineries,” she said.
“Basing up to 90 cabin crew in Perth will allow us to continue to expand our network out of the west in coming years, providing more choice for West Australians and boosting the state’s tourism economy.”

Christchurch Airport Chief Executive Justin Watson said the Perth service reflects building demand and a strong airline partnership.
“We are stoked to add another destination to our Australian network – it’s fantastic news, it gives South Islanders even more choice and strengthens our ties with our most important market,” he said.
