Queenslanders now have a non-stop link to the Cook Islands with the inaugural Jetstar Brisbane-Rarotonga flight taking off on 19 May 2026.
The Jetstar Brisbane-Rarotonga flight will operate three times per week on the low-cost carrier’s A321neo LR aircraft, linking Queenslanders directly to the Polynesian paradise.
The new Jetstar Brisbane-Rarotonga flight joins the existing Sydney–Rarotonga route, which launched in June 2023, making JQ the only airline offering direct flights between BNE, SYD and RAR.
Brisbane Airport now has the world’s largest network of direct flights to South Pacific ports, flying to 11 locations, with Cook Islands representing the airport’s 35th international destination.

Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said the new Jetstar Brisbane-Rarotonga flight reinforced BNE’s position as a key hub to the Pacific.
“Brisbane has long been the gateway to our neighbours in the Pacific and it’s great to see that continued connectivity with the addition of this new route,” he said.
“This new route will give Queenslanders direct access to the Cook Islands and their warm hospitality, tropical climate and vibrant island culture.”

Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown highlighted the significance of the inaugural Brisbane-Rarotonga flight for the island nation.
“Having Jetstar flights from Sydney has been fantastic, but the addition of three flights per week from Brisbane makes it that much easier for Queenslanders and all our diaspora to reach our tropical paradise,” he said.
“Tourism is the backbone of the Cook Island’s economy, contributing approximately 75 per cent of the country’s GDP. This will provide a major boost to our tourism sector and the financial impact for local tourism operators and the nation will be very positive.”

Jetstar Executive Manager Customer & Digital Prue McKenzie said the new service gave travellers even more opportunities to enjoy Jetstar’s expanding network.
“Rarotonga is a stunning destination and Queenslanders have jumped at the chance to reach this island paradise on this new direct service,” she said.
“We’re excited to work with our partners, including the Cook Islands Government, to bring this beautiful island closer to more Australians.”
