Starlux Airlines, a full-service Taiwanese carrier, has confirmed it will fly to Sydney Airport from next year, marking its Australian debut.
As reported exclusively by Karryon last week, the global airline will operate nonstop flights between Sydney and Taipei as it looks to compete with China Airlines on the route and boost travel between the two ports.
A start date and flight schedule for the new service, which will include an onward service to Auckland, will be revealed soon.

“We’re proud to welcome STARLUX Airlines to Sydney, providing passengers with more choice, competition, and connectivity,” Sydney Airport CEO Scott Charlton said.
“This new partnership reflects the continued demand for premium travel experiences and reinforces the importance of Sydney Airport as a key global aviation hub.”

Starlux Airlines CEO Glenn Chai said the carrier was committed to a “long-term presence” Down Under.
“Sydney is one of the world’s great gateway cities and we are excited to connect travellers with our award-winning service and premium travel experience,” he remarked.
“This new route will strengthen links between Australia and Taiwan, while providing customers with seamless connections through Taipei to destinations across Asia and beyond.
“We look forward to welcoming Australian travellers on board and building a long-term presence in this important market.”

According to Sydney Airport, Taiwan is one of Sydney’s fastest-growing travel markets. In 2025, passenger numbers between the NSW and Taiwanese capitals grew 18 per cent to nearly 200,000.
Taipei also provides a connection point to other destinations, in Asia, Europe and the US.
KARRYON UNPACKS: Starlux’s arrival gives Australians another full-service option into Asia at a time when premium demand is rising. For travel advisors, more competition usually means more choice, connectivity and selling opportunities.
