Virgin Australia has commenced direct Canberra-Bali flights for its first-ever international service from the capital, flying thrice weekly and adding more than 40,000 seats a year with launch Economy Lite fares from $449 return on sale until 26 June 2026.

The inaugural Canberra-Bali service departed on 22 June 2026, marking the first international flight Virgin Australia has ever operated out of Canberra Airport.

The seasonal route is operated on the airline’s Boeing B737-800 with Business Class, Economy X and Economy seating with scope to add frequency during peak periods according to demand.

The addition lifts Virgin Australia’s Bali network past 500,000 seats a year, joining existing direct services from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Virgin Australia Holidays has relaunched with bundled flight-and-hotel packages to Bali and Cairns.
Virgin Australia now connects Canberra and Bali directly.

For travel advisors, the route opens Bali to a new catchment that previously had to connect through Sydney or Brisbane. Interstate travellers can also use Canberra as a connecting gateway to Denpasar.

“Today marks a significant milestone for Virgin Australia as we operate our first-ever international flight from Canberra, connecting the nation’s capital directly with one of Australia’s most popular overseas destinations,” she said.

“We’ve already seen a strong response from customers, which reinforces the demand for direct international services from Canberra.

“This route not only gives Canberrans and surrounding regional communities a more convenient way to travel overseas, it will also help drive inbound visitation and economic activity for the ACT by making it easier for international visitors to experience everything Canberra has to offer.”

“Direct international services are incredibly important for the Canberra region, and this new Bali service is a wonderful milestone for our community,” he said.

ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the service also widened the capital’s appeal as an inbound destination.

“Bali is one of the most popular destinations for Australians, and now thousands of Canberrans will be able to skip the queues and airport transfers, and fly direct from home,” he said.
