The Gold Coast hotel race has claimed another major global brand, with Marriott International signing a deal to open the destination’s first Westin, slated to open in late 2029.
The 138-room new-build will join a growing Marriott portfolio on the coast, where the hotel giant already operates JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa and Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Gold Coast, with another four properties in the pipeline.
Developed under a franchise agreement with Australian-based M Property, The Westin Gold Coast will occupy levels six to 25 of a new mixed-use development and be managed by La Vie Hotels & Resorts.
The hotel will include 115 premium guestrooms and 23 suites overlooking either the Pacific Ocean or the Gold Coast hinterland.
What’s on offer for guests
The property will lean into Westin’s Sleep Well, Eat Well and Move Well pillars, with plans for a Heavenly Spa by Westin, WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio, infinity pool and pool bar.
A signature restaurant and bar, meeting and conference facilities and dedicated guest parking are also expected to form part of the development, which will target both leisure travellers and the business events market.

Marriott International Director of Hotel Development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Tristan Cooper said the Gold Coast was a natural fit for the brand.
“The Westin Gold Coast represents a natural fit between brand and location, and we already see strong performance across our existing Westin portfolio, both in key domestic and international source markets for the Gold Coast,” he said.
“We are excited to welcome Westin to the Gold Coast and introduce a genuine point of difference to the market.”
La Vie lands the management deal
La Vie Hotels & Resorts has been appointed to manage the property, extending the independent operator’s premium hotel portfolio across the Asia-Pacific region.

La Vie Hotels & Resorts Chief Executive Officer Jerry Xu said the appointment reflected the company’s continued growth.
“Being appointed to manage Westin Gold Coast is a proud milestone for La Vie Hotels & Resorts and a strong endorsement of the platform we have built across the Asia-Pacific region,” Xu said.
“This landmark signing with Marriott International reflects the quality of the project and the continued growth of La Vie as a leading independent hotel management platform.
“Together with our partners, we look forward to delivering a world-class hotel experience and setting a new benchmark for hospitality on the Gold Coast.”
KARRYON UNPACKS: With a 2029 opening, this one is for the forward planners, but it gives advisors another wellness-led option in a domestic destination that consistently draws Australian leisure and corporate travellers. Add a Heavenly Spa and infinity pool to Marriott’s growing Gold Coast stable and there is a clear point of difference to sell when doors open.
