Twenty five- to- 34-year olds are the most trusted travel critics, according to a new study which found they’re the most sought-after for travel advice.

Roy Morgan Research’s latest findings revealed when it comes to planning a holiday, people prefer to ask their family and friends for their personal travel tips.

But 44 percent of respondents said they preferred to ask friends within the 25-34-age bracket.

Aussies aged between 35-49 years were the second trust group of advisors, while travellers aged 65+ were only trusted by 22 percent of respondents.

Teens were the least preferred travel critics, with only 21 percent asked for their advice.

People who have been on holiday in the last 12 months are sought after more than those who haven’t, with 52 percent of those who has been on an overseas trip asked for holiday hints as were the 40 percent that had recently embarked on a domestic holiday.

Roy Morgan group account director Angela Smith said research regularly shows frequent travellers are more likely to be asked for holiday advice, because nothing compares to personal reports of destinations, accommodation and transport.

“Tips from friends/family who have already been there can help make all the difference. Forewarned is forearmed, after all!”
