Themed rooms, private chauffeurs, fine dining for only $460 per week – I may try to book into the cat hotel for my next trip.
Us Aussies love our pets, maybe a bit too much, I know I’m guilty of spoiling my dog. We worry about the food they eat (only the best) and if you’re like me, most of your instagram uploads are along the lines of “look how cute my dog is”. Having said that, I was still amazed when I heard about Hotel Cat in the UK. If you haven’t guessed from the apt name, it’s a hotel just for cats in Hampshire. I’m embarrassed to say that this cat accommodation looks better than my house.
Your pampered pet can stay in this seven-room hotel for £250 a week (approx $460AUD). Sounds like a lot, but you do get a lot for your money. This is a luxury hotel after all. There are private chauffeurs, a ‘country-club’ atmosphere and even fine dining.
Yep, just to let you know Hotel Cat isn’t playing around. Here’s what’s on the menu:
- Prawn and crab medley – a delicious mixture of fresh meat chopped and served as fish cakes
- Salmon and cod poached and flaked
- Baked chicken breast – succulent, moist breast of chicken chopped into small bite size pieces
- Fresh tuna steak slow cooked and hand flaked
- Smoked salmon with king prawns – served with a small amount of seafood sauce and topped with fresh cat nip, a firm favourite for a special occasion
It’s so delicious, even my mouth is watering. If that’s not enough to keep you busy, the hotel even has rooms with working televisions, DVD collections and extravagant toys to entertain the five-star felines.
As mentioned, the rooms are all themed too. The seven suites have all been decorated to hotel standards with double glazed windows so the cats can have permanent visual stimulation. Each suite has a bedroom/living room with full size bed and duvet. The smallest suite is 154 sq ft and the largest being 348 sq ft with themes like: Royal Mews, Moulin Rouge, Beachcombers and Savannah. For the owner’s benefit, who may be missing their beloved kitties while they’re on holiday, they offer Skype calling.
‘It seemed natural for us to provide large suites that we would be happy to stay in ourselves and where we would have plenty of room to spend time with our guests in comfort.’
Jackie Ferrier, Owner
