1. Man fakes bomb threat for his girlfriend
Talk about grand gestures.
A 33-year-old man is said to be facing up to two years in prison after allegedly faking a bomb threat so his girlfriend wouldn’t miss her flight.
The man was arrested in France for making the call to Bordeaux-Mérignac airport.
He is believed to have said ‘there is a bomb, there is a bomb’.
According to the Daily Mail, the threat was made because his girlfriend who was meant to be on the flight, was stuck in traffic on the way to the airport.
After receiving the threat, French police sealed off the airport and conducted extensive searches.
The call was then traced back to a location 12 miles from the airport and the man was taken into custody.
2. United adopts ‘Girl Power’
No, the airline didn’t just recruit the Spice Girls as brand ambassadors, it did something incredibly cooler.
After noticing a lack of women in control at 35,000-feet, United Airlines decided to ‘man’ one of its flights with an all women crew.
The historic flight on the airline’s new Boeing 737-900ER flew from Seattle to Chicago earlier this month with a female captain, Kim Noakes, and her first officer, Jan Lumbrazo.
And in the cockpit, all drinks, meals and towels were being handed out by ladies only.
In addition to an entirely female crew, the plane was filled by women who work for United Airlines in other capacities.
However, it may be a while before ladies takeover the skies again, because according to a United spokesperson the all-female flight would not significantly change the way the airline assigns cockpit crews, Chicago Business Journal reported.
3. This will make you wish you worked for Emirates
While other airlines turn to celebrities to promote their brands, Emirates has turned to its ‘globalists’ aka employees to be its ambassadors.
The airline has proved that working for the company is more than just wearing some of the classiest uniforms in the sky, it’s the chance to become a travel spokesperson.
The airline has just launched its newest global campaign ‘Be There’ featuring… it’s staff.
