The internet may have changed the way travellers do their research, but travel brochures are still a popular way of obtaining travel information. Here’s what new this week.
1. Travelmarvel’s new features in Canada & Alaska
Travelmarvel has released its new Canada and Alaska 2016 program, packed with new features in the growing adventure travel destination.
New to the brochure if the seven- to- 14-day Rockies Marvel & Alaska Cruise itinerary.
Designed specifically for guests who have limited time but want to take in all the highlights of Western Canada, the land component offers two nights in Banff, a night at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, a journey on the Rocky Mountaineer in SilverLeaf and two nights exploring Vancouver.
Guests can also choose to add a seven night Holland America Line Inside Passage Cruise including Glacier Bay.
Travelmarvel has expanded its Insider Experiences sightseeing program for 2016 with the addition of a special trail ride along the banks of the Bow river in Banff followed by a traditional Steak Fry BBQ dinner; the chance to have breakfast with the bears at the Grouse Mountain Bear Refuge in Vancouver; and a visit to the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary in Alberta.
Cruising remains a popular component of Travelmarvel’s Canada program and guests can choose to sail Alaska’s Inside Passage including a full day at Glacier Bay, or New England itineraries, both of which set sail aboard Holland America Line ships.
Rocky Mountaineer journeys on Travelmarvel’s Western Canada itineraries are all aboard SilverLeaf carriages in 2016.
The most popular itinerary is the 19-day Passage Through the Rockies & Alaska Cruise.
The 12-day itinerary takes guests from the Rockies from Calgary to Victoria, via Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Blue River, Vancouver and Whistler, before spending seven nights cruising Alaska’s Inside Passage aboard Holland America Line’s ms Volendam.
Highlights include the chance to travel to the Athabasca Glacier in an Ice Explorer, visit Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary or explore Victoria’s Butchart Gardens.
2. Tucan Travel expands South America products
Tucan Travel has announced the launch of a new Overland Tours in South America.
Travelling on board their purpose-built, expedition vehicles and staying in the equivalent in comfort of 3* hotels for most of the journey, Tucan Travel have added more highlights into the itineraries allowing you to spend even more time in each destination.
Tucan Travel’s new Overland Tours in South America will be almost entirely hotel based with camping only available when absolutely necessary – on the Inca Trail Trek, in Torres del Paine National Park and when watching the Catatumbo lightening phenomenon on Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela.
The company has also added flights to itineraries, cutting down some long travel days.
This has also allowed Tucan Travel to include more highlights in the itineraries without having to extend the length of the tours including more time in Patagonia, visiting Queulat National Park, Futaleufu and Coyhaique. A visit to Angel Falls is also now part of the itinerary including a flight over the falls for views from above and below.
3. Discover cruising with Swan Hellenic
Swan Hellenic has released its new cruise brochure, featuring an in-depth look at available itineraries.
Itineraries are available on Swan Hellenic’s Minerva, which is reminiscent of elegant British country homes, while traveling in comfort and style to their dream destination.
Brochure highlights include 15 new cruises; new destinations in the Baltic, Mediterranean, Aegean and Adriatic seas, plus diverse ports of call around British waters.
There are also sailings to the Caribbean Islands and the spectacular West Coast of South America, focusing on lesser seen areas and ports not usually visited.
4. Seabourn adds Encore to new program
The 2016/17 program is out for Seabourn, which features the line’s newest and most modern cruise vessel, Seabourn Encore.
The new program offers 28 unique itineraries and 104 departures of seven to 89 days visiting all seven continents including popular destinations in South America, Antarctica, India, Arabia, the Panama Canal, Canada, New England, the Caribbean and Asia as well as Seabourn Encore’s maiden season of cruising in Australia and New Zealand.
The program also features a series of maiden visits and a return to some old favourites including ports in Japan, China and Korea, in addition to a series of new Caribbean itineraries from Barbados.
Seabourn will continue to offer its Extended Explorations program, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy longer cruises from 32 days to 89 days, with the added luxury of a wide range of choices regarding where and when they sail.
These linked voyages offer rich port content and more in-depth exploration of a particular region.
The program will include the first season of cruising for Seabourn Encore, which joins award-winning sister ships – Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Quest.
As part of the line’s partnership with UNESCO, the program also features visits to many UNESCO World Heritage Sites around the world.
5. Infinity escape to the NT
It has been out for some time, but the NT 2015/16 brochure is still on shelves.
The program features a few new things, starting with the Family Recipe genre page – which has some great little ideas for a Territory getaway with the family.
There’s also quite a few new day tours and extended tours including AAT Kings Colour of Red tour from Uluru and a couple of new Wayoutback Australian Safaris tours.
There is also one new hotel – Desert Palms Alice Springs.
