It’s back! Due to popular demand we are relaunching our weekly Hot or Not series, bringing you some of the highs and lows in this week’s travel news headlines.

HOT, HOT, HOT!

1. Sex, lies and Cruising

hot

Cheating partners, wild cabin parties, group sex and fleeting relationships. This is the treacherous underworld of working on cruise ships and  the debauchery that occurs on the high seas.

In her debut book, Sex, Lies, and Cruising, Australian author Cathryn Chapman discloses what she discovered working on cruise ships through a saucy, funny, fiction novel, which she describes as the ‘vanilla version’ of her real life experiences.

Thousands of men and women across the world spend months and sometimes years at a time working on cruise ships, or as Cathryn terms them ‘floating moral vacuums’.

2. Qantas glitch sells off super cheap flights

Untitled-2

It was practically raining cheap airfares to the US this week, when a computer glitch saw Qantas tickets from Australia to Los Angeles selling from a little as $400.

It would have been a dream come true for those researching travel on websites like Hopper.com and Skyscanner.com.au when they spotted roundtrip flights scheduled from July to September for $577. Or there was the one-way fares for just $286 on Skyscanner scheduled for flights until March 2016.

The glitch seemed very much a reality, especially after Skyscanner told Mashable the low fares were “the result of a promotion or sale running from one of our partners, an online travel agency and the fare is available only on certain dates”.

1. Holidaymakers getting sick from… poop in pools

not3

Emma Stone’s reaction is on point.

There’s apparently a new trend in travel that sees tourists taking a dump in public pools and exiting quickly.

The horrifying practise is believed to have made several travellers sick in resorts in Spain, Dominican Republic and Egypt.

Law firm, Simpson Millar, says they’ve received a number of cases over the last few week from holidaymakers who have become seriously ill due to the prank.

He said travellers are getting diarrhoea and sickness and in some instances they’re even being put on drips.

In Rove’s words: ‘what the?”

2. Uhhh, are they for real?

Somebody went a little light on the filling.

A man has taken to Reddit to share the image above – a bacon and egg roll sandwich with the smallest portion in the world served at an airport in the UK.

Going by the username ‘Spambox’, the man claims he spent around $6.50 on the under-whelming meal.

“I never asked for a refund as I figured it must be overpriced s*** cause it’s an airport.”

“The part that made it worse was that they told me to take a seat and they’d bring it over. The only empty table was clearly empty because it hadn’t been cleaned for what appeared to be weeks and then after 15 minutes I had to go back and ask where my roll was which they had totally forgot about.”

3. It’s official, no more selfie sticks near Mickey Mouse

not

Oh, you want to take a photo with Mickey Mouse using the selfie stick? Well you can’t. Disney has officially banned the lengthy photo-taking gadget from its parks.

To be honest we think it is a very smart move.

The company has confirmed to BBC News that the gadgets, which were formerly prohibited on rides, are now completely banned from all its theme parks.
