The increase in operations comes less than two weeks after All Nippon Airways unveiled plans to resume services on the Sydney to Tokyo route.

Qantas flight QF25 will depart from Sydney to Haneda Airport tonight. This will be followed by the departure of QF61 from Brisbane to Narita Airport tomorrow morning.

Qantas’ additional Japan flights kick off this weekend.

The airline’s International CEO, Gareth Evans said additional flights will increase the airline’s presence in Japan at a time of growing travel between the two countries.

According to latest research, Japan welcomed 20 percent more Aussie visitors last year compared to 2013. We were one of the first nations to return to the Land of the Rising Sun after the devastating 2011 tsunami.

Evans says the increased capacity has been popular amongst Qantas customers, particularly business travellers heading directly to downtown Tokyo.
