Mobile hotels: this company is making it a thing

Conventional accommodation is sooooo last year, pop-up hotels and suites are the new fad and could even potentially be the future of the accommodation industry.

Conventional accommodation is sooooo last year, pop-up hotels and suites are the new fad and could even potentially be the future of the accommodation industry.

Okay they may not exactly be the future of the industry (fixed properties will always be a necessity), but you have to admit the idea of staying in a room set up for a couple of nights in an ideal location is incredibly attractive.

It taps into the modern traveller’s desire for unique, thrilling and spontaneous travel experiences. Additionally, pop-up suites are like having your favourite hotel follow you around to new destinations.

And guess what, Australia finally has one.

Spontaneity Suite hotels

As part of HotelTonight’s major marketing strategy in Australia, the hotel booking app has officially opened the doors to the country’s first ‘Spontaneity Suite’ – a travelling suite made out of two 20-foot shipping containers and pimped out with everything a traveller would expect in a four- to- five-star hotel room.

The pop-up suite was promised to us back in June, when the company’s suite made a short appearance right in the centre of Sydney’s Circular Quay.

Two months ago the company’s Asia Pacific Director, Stefan Cordiner, told KarryOn HotelTonight would utilise the out-of-the-box idea to push the brand as well as its recent expansion into new cities – Adelaide and Brisbane.

“The aim is to offer an intrepid yet comfortable experience to create the perfect night of escapism.”

“We’re on a quest to make travelling more fun so thought it was fitting to deliver this unique luxury accommodation – worthy of a trip before the suite disappears and moves on to a new home.”

Yarra Valley hotels

For the property’s first major ‘stay’, HotelTonight has selected a secret hilltop in Yarra Valley.

Valued at $32,000 based on location/transport costs and other elements, it will be available for travellers to purchase from $99 for five nights.

As well as staying in a one-of-a-kind room, guests will have access to a rooftop Jacuzzi and terrace, cocktail station and the latest in-room technology such as Apple TV and keyless entry. There’s also a large floor-to-ceiling glass frontage so guests can enjoy the vineyard views.

Former Bachelor couple Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich enjoyed a couple of nights in the Spontaneity Suite.

So far, former Bachelor couple Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich are the only guests to have enjoyed the suite’s lavish features and iconic location.

Bookings for the Yarra Valley stay open on Thursday. For those that miss out on the $99 stay, a bonus night will be available on 1 September when the price will drop by $1,000 from the $32,000 every ten minutes until it has gone.

All money raised from the final night, and the $99 spontaneous stays will be donated to Australia’s leading food rescue charity OzHarvest.

Following its Yarra stay, The Spontaneity Suite will head to a secret Sydney location before moving on to other locations in Australia.
