Viking will swell its South-East Asia river fleet with the new Viking Tonle set to debut on the Mekong Delta in October 2025. She joins identical sister ship Viking Saigon, which commenced operations in 2022, sailing the Magnificent Mekong itinerary.

The announcement is part of Viking’s fleet expansion plans to add 23 new ships by 2030.

The 80-guest river ship is currently under construction and will meet strong demand for Mekong River voyages with added sailing dates in 2025 and 2026.

Built specifically to navigate the Mekong River, she will contain 40 outside staterooms with hotel-style beds and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors with a veranda or French balcony.

Guests on the three-deck vessel will also enjoy a spa and fitness centre, pool and open-air Sky Bar on the Upper Deck.

The new vessel will sail between Kampong Cham, Cambodia and Mỹ Tho, Vietnam as part of the cruise line’s popular 15-day Magnificent Mekong itinerary.

Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen said the rich history and culture of Vietnam and Cambodia have always made the Mekong River a fascinating destination for its guests.

“With the addition of an identical sister ship in 2025, we look forward to introducing even more curious travellers to the treasures of this fantastic region in the years to come,” he said.
