Bali May Reopen For Tourism From As Early As October

The Indonesian Government has just shared the hopeful news that the popular holiday island of Bali may reopen to tourists from as early as October.

The government says this is thanks to the success of the island in controlling the coronavirus outbreak.

Bali has only reported 343 coronavirus cases and four deaths, much lower than the 16,496 cases and 1076 deaths reported throughout Indonesia as a whole.

Secretary to the ministry of tourism Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani said if the infection curve continued to flatten out, the country’s tourism ministry would mount a promotional campaign that leads up to the reopening of international travel to Bali in October.

“Considering that Bali is a major tourist destination, it is necessary to take immediate and prompt steps to restore travel to the island and all key destinations in the country.”

Foreign tourist arrivals into Indonesia fell more than 60 per cent in March when compared to the same month last year. A tough blow for a country that relies heavily on tourism.

Assuming the curve stays flat Bali will stage the gradual opening of tourism destinations with strict health protocols in place.

The news ties in with the Bali Hotels Association’s latest promotion called ’60 days of bringing Bali to you virtually’.

It brings Bali to the travel consumer virtually while sharng the key message that “Bali will warmly welcome you back as soon as it is possible to travel again”.

And maybe it will be sooner than we initially thought.
