The fourth best shopping city in the world, Kuala Lumpur is a shopaholics dream – and with the bargains available during Malaysia’s Official End of Year Sale, you can shop till you drop

Home to over 120 malls with a diverse mix of shopping precincts selling everything from luxury brands through to local handicrafts, it’s no wonder that Kuala Lumpur has been voted the world’s fourth best shopping city for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013.

One of the best things right now, Malaysia holds an Official End of Year Sale from 1st of November right through to the 31st of December, so you can definitely release your inner shopaholic and set them loose on the great bargains.

There is no time like the present to experience some of Malaysia’s best shopping and dining, including year-end promotions and school holiday specials for the entire family – and some amazing Christmas and New Year sales.

Shopping is big in Kuala Lumpur, hot at the tails of big shopping cities like New York, London and Tokyo.

The End of Year Sale is only one of the three major sale campaigns in Malaysia, there’s also the 1Malaysia Grand Prix Sale in March and the 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival from June to September which have significantly boosted tourist numbers to the country.

Shopping is now the second biggest share of tourist expenditure after accommodation.

Two of Kuala Lumpur’s biggest malls, the Pavilion and Suria KLCC shopping centres, offer privilege cards for tourists that provide great discounts at many of the retail outlets located in each one.

Pavilion is located in the trendy Bukit Bintang district and boasts 1.37 mil sq ft of retail haven with over 500 outlets offering the finest fashion and home furnishing to entertainment and culinary delights.

Make sure to check out the Couture Pavilion, home of the world’s major fashion labels from Europe, America and Asia.

Suria KLCC shopping centre is an imposing six-storey building at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur city centre. Suria KLCC is divided into three sections: Ampang Mall, Park Mall and the new Ramlee Mall.

The mall houses over 320 high-end local and international retailers.

Hawker Style Dining

After working up an appetite at the Pavilion (168, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur), head across the road to Lot 10 Hutong ( LG Floor, Lot 10 Shopping Centre, 50 Jalan Sultan Ismail, 50250 Kuala Lumpur), with over 30 of KL’s best hawker style stalls under one roof.

With Malaysia being so close to home and their great shopping offerings, it’s time to take a trip and bring some comfortable shoes for days on end of endless shopping.
