Music has the power to soothe the soul, get you moving and inspire. And, when coupled with alcohol, get you to do some pretty embarrassing things…

But when the right song comes on at the right time when you’re at work doing your travel agent-ing, it can rock your world!

Here are five songs that should be absolute staples on any travel agency’s store/office playlist.

1. HAPPY BY PHARRELL WILLIAMS

Secured that $15,445 cruise booking?

Got a cheaper booking class on that family airfare to London?

Got the green light on an 8 pax Vodka Train booking?

Then “Happy” by the American rapper, singer, songwriter Pharrell Williams (of  N*E*R*D fame) should be playing on your store playlist.

2. OOPS!…I DID IT AGAIN BY BRITNEY SPEARS

Quick, someone call Britney!

You’ve done it again: another costly mistake, another bl@@dy Neg…

It isn’t the first time you’ve gotten one, and it (probably) won’t be your last. But with Britney’s “Oops!…I Did It Again” blasing through the store speakers, at least you can have a little fun…

3. CLOSING TIME BY SEMISONIC

“Closing Time” by the American rock band Semisonic is the perfect song to play at the end of a stressful day at the office/store. It helps you transition from your working life to your real life, and if nothing else, subtly informs the customers still in the store that it’s time for all of you to go home.

The song is also a fitting number to close a boozed-up industry night – just check out the lyrics below…

Closing time
One last call for alcohol so finish your whiskey or beer
Closing time
You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here
I know who I want to take me home.

4. I’M STILL WAITING BY DIANA ROSS

Sick of waiting on hold for that wholesaler or airline to pick up the phone, or for your computer to just load?

“I’m Still Waiting” by Diana Ross wasn’t written out of desperations such as these, but who cares, the song perfectly fits!

5. WASTING MY TIME BY DEFAULT

Ah, the time wasters.

Unfortunately, travel agents need to deal with these types of customers pretty routinely, and although the soothing sounds of “Wasting My Time” by Canadian hard rock Default won’t take all the frustration away, it will take the edge off.
