Adventure World recently hosted six ANZ travel advisors on a life-changing agent fam in Alaska with the opportunity to participate in one of the tour operator’s authentic MAKE TRAVEL MATTER experiences to showcase travel as a force for good.
On the Adventure World Alaska famil, advisors experienced firsthand ethical and sustainable adventures that celebrate and conserve Alaskan heritage and culture, benefit local communities, protect wildlife and safeguard the environment.
A trip highlight was volunteering at the 81ha Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) sanctuary for orphaned and injured animals where advisors helped construct a fence to keep visitors safe from the wood bison enclosure, protecting vulnerable calves.
Partnering with the US Forest Service, the non-profit AWCC leases an additional 44.5 hectares dedicated solely to wood bison in order to release America’s largest land mammal back into Alaska after a century-long absence. In 2015, 130 wood bison were successfully released into western Alaska.
Adventure World General Manager and fam host Caryn Young said: “This Adventure World Alaska famil provided invaluable insights into responsible travel practices and insights into Adventure World’s core ethos: to ‘Travel with Purpose’.”
“We’re thrilled to equip our travel advisors with the knowledge and resources to create unforgettable experiences for their clients that truly benefit destinations and wildlife.”

More cultural experiences on the Adventure World Alaska famil
Other standout activities on the Adventure World Alaska famil included immersive art experiences among the spectacular collections and exhibits of historic and modern artefacts within Anchorage Museum and a street art walking tour.

“Advisors said they wished they had more time there and would highly recommend the Anchorage Museum to their clients,” Young added.
