Start dusting off your gladrags, because The Australia Federation of Travel Agents has announced its annual National Travel Industry Award night (NTIA) will return on Saturday 15 October 2022 in Sydney.
After what will have been a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, AFTA says it is “pleased to announce that NTIA will be back to recognise the extremely talented people and businesses that make up the Australian travel Sector.”
The event will also return to the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Sydney, though the date has been pushed forward from its traditional mid-July billing to mid-October instead.
AFTA says the focus of the 2022 NTIA will be “a celebration of what we have overcome and what our businesses and people now represent.”
Speaking about the return of the event, AFTA CEO Dean Long said, “AFTA is pleased to confirm that NTIA will be back on 15 October 2022 with a new approach bringing a strong focus on our people and businesses at Sydney’s ICC following a tumultuous 20 months due to COVID-19.”

“It’s important we come together to celebrate and acknowledge the innovation, determination and resilience of our people and our sector so keep the date free to join us.”
“As we finalise our redesigned NTIA in the coming months with our members, partners and Board we have already had extremely positive feedback from those partners of the important role that NTIA has in celebrating Australia’s travel community,” he said.
AFTA was forced to cancel the 2020 event scheduled for mid-July due to the pandemic after deciding that it would be inappropriate to proceed.
A full refund was provided at the time to sponsors and attendees, including all sponsorship fees and pre-purchased tickets.
