Ever wondered what inspires a Travel Agent to become a Travel Agent? What drove them to pursue a career the requires them to spend most of their time chasing quotes and creating dream itineraries for others?
Is travel consultancy in the blood or is it something one discovers along life’s windy road?
Turns out, it’s a bit of both.
Much like superheroes, Travel Agents have their own fascinating origin stories and they’re being adapted into a mini-series… kind of.
Travel Counsellors has launched a new video campaign focusing on its members, specifically what inspired them to enter the travel industry and what led them into the world of home-based consultancy.
Called the ‘Being a Travel Counsellor’ series, the short Youtube clips delve into the beginnings of a handful of successful consultants before discussing their achievements, evolutions and need for work/life balance… of course, while also promoting the Travel Counsellors brand.
Among the Agents is Hannah Foster who revealed her love of travel began at a really early age thanks to her parents who were in the circus.
“My parents got jobs in the circus and travelled with the circus until I was about six or seven, that’s where I got my travel bug nice and early.”

How fun!
Then there’s Donna Jones who said she knew she was destined for a life of a Travel Agent when she was a kid and would sneak into her local agency to collect brochures to create her own itineraries.
For Clare Hardie, the pull of a travel career came a little later in life when she’d moved from England to a country town in Australia for the man she loved. She revealed that after two children she began to wonder what career she could have in the countryside, which led her to trial and fall for travel consultancy.
Travel Counsellors Australia’s Regional Managing Director Kaylene Shuttlewood, said the collection of short videos highlight the many talented Travel Agents within the brand around Australia.
“Each of them come from diverse backgrounds and approach their work in different ways, but what unites them is a passion for travel, a desire to build a sustainable travel business and a commitment to providing the very best, personalised service to their clients.”
