More than 600 advisors have achieved Certified Touring Specialist status since the Council of Australian Tour Operators launched its CATO Touring Academy in mid-2024 for retail travel agents to level up their professional careers with recognised industry training.
Course completions and certifications have doubled again since November 2024, reaching more than 11,000 course completions and 1,000 enrolments since the CATO Touring Academy e-learning program debuted in June last year.
The comprehensive curriculum delivers tour sector-specific insights, exclusive brand training with CATO members and advanced sales strategies.
The CATO Touring Certification is designed to allow retail travel professionals to increase their expertise and achieve industry recognition as skilled experts in land-based holidays.

CATO Managing Director Brett Jardine said the CATO Touring Academy has achieved “extraordinary” engagement levels quickly with course completions and certified agents doubling since late November.
When initially announcing the scheme, Jardine told Karryon: “The tailored e-learning experience will allow people to progress at their own pace, leading to the achievement of CATO Certified status.”
“This demonstrates a level of understanding, credibility and expertise that will set them apart from their competitors.

“Our Touring Academy provides agents with an unmatched learning experience, combining authentic, sector-focused material with extensive brand training. It’s the perfect opportunity for travel agents to take their careers to the next level,” he said.
Aussie advisors can sign up for the annual training subscription for AUD$99 (including GST).
