The Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) community gathered in Sydney last week to celebrate the graduation of its 33rd group of mentees, & to welcome intake no. 36 into the program.
The lively event was generously hosted by Amadeus IT Pacific at their stunning offices in Haymarket and, as with all TIME graduations, there was much more to the event than congratulatory back-pats and hat-tips.
Before the festivities got underway, TIME facilitated an interactive public speaking skills workshop led by recent graduate, Timo Lorenzen. Timo’s graduation speech in April 2019 won’t be forgotten in a hurry, and those who attended his workshop gained fabulous insights from a brilliant presenter.
While Timo was regaling and challenging his audience, the latest intake of TIME mentees—group no. 36, no less—completed an induction workshop conducted by TIME Founder, Penny Spencer.
“Our Induction-Graduation events are superb”, said Penny.
“For new TIME mentees to be able to mix with graduates, and hear their graduation speeches is such a brilliant way to enter the program. It was lovely to see graduates offer advice to the new mentees on how they might make the most of the six-month mentoring journey ahead of them.
“And, as always, to see the how each graduate’s TIME experience has changed them is incredibly gratifying”, added Penny.
After pre-graduation drinks, the evening’s formalities were led by MC Jess Flint, TIME Graduate and Marketing Manager – Consumer/Digital, Australia for Uniworld Boutique River Cruises.
Jess thanked Justin Montgomery, GM Australia of Amadeus IT Pacific for the generous hospitality, and introduced the evening’s guest speaker—Chris Hall, Group Managing Director of APT.
Chris recalled his 30-year career from a junior running errands to respected Group GM of APT. The spine of that journey was a passion for continual learning that saw Chris interrupt a career on the ascent for a couple of years to complete a university degree.
So, who are the latest TIME graduates? It was a typically diverse group of travel-tourism-hospitality professionals, individually mentored by an astonishingly accomplished and well-matched set of mentors.
