The inaugural G Adventures Change Makers Summit was such a hit that the brand has decided to bring it back for another year, but this time it features a gathering in a mystery destination.

G Adventures’ ‘Change Makers Challenge’ is an inspiring incentive, which allows the operator to find consultants who want to ‘change people’s lives through travel’ and invite them to discover how they can go about doing so.

The incentive ran last year, with the first group of Change Makers meeting in Peru in May this year where, according to the travel brand’s Vice President David Green, they saw firsthand the impact of community tourism.

Now, G Adventures is carrying the incentive forward, but it’ll include a new mystery location in 2020. Here’s everything you need to know:

WHAT EXACTLY IS A CHANGE MAKER?

A Change Maker is the title G Adventures will impart on some 150 Travel Agents from the UK, Ireland, Central Europe, South Africa, Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand, who want to want to be involved in using travel to make positive changes to communities around the world.

Don’t worry; nobody is an expert on this without a little coaching, which is what G Adventures’ team of global purpose specialists will help provide at the summit in 2020.

HOW CAN YOU BECOME A CHANGE MAKER?

There are three ways Travel Agents can earn their space at the Change Makers Summit in 2020.

  • All Agents will automatically receive one entry per ‘life changed’ (traveller booked).
  • There will be wildcard opportunities throughout 2019.
  • An Agent can submit a ‘social good’ entry, which is a story about work they’ve done to give back to their community or the travel community at large. These submissions need to be in by 31 December 2019.

The 2020 Change Makers Challenge goes live on 1 July 2019 and runs until 31 January 2020.

WHAT DO YOU RECEIVE?

Aside from the title and knowledge, Change Makers will be flown to a mystery destination in April 2020 where they’ll spend a week seeing firsthand the positive impact community tourism has for local people, as well as destination highlights to help build their product knowledge.

They’ll then join a one-day, immersive summit where they’ll learn a little more and be treated to a party night to remember.

WHAT SETS IT APART FROM OTHER INCENTIVES?

As Director of Sales for Australia and New Zealand Matty Drummond explains, it’s a first of its kind experience that moves beyond “just sales” and instead focuses on “looking at lives changed by the impact of travel”.
