CLIA casts the net for eco input with agent sustainability survey

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is asking Aussie and Kiwi advisors to share their views on sustainability and responsible travel in an industry survey launching this week.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is asking Aussie and Kiwi advisors to share their views on sustainability and responsible travel in an industry survey launching this week.

Available to all CLIA travel agents via the organisation’s weekly e-newsletter, the survey is part of a worldwide initiative to tap into the insights of frontline advisors.

Your input will help shape future trade resources and training materials based on questions about sustainability.

The survey seeks to understand how well-informed agents feel about sustainability issues, what areas interest your clients and what tools would help with upskilling on responsible travel.

Responses will be collated with those from CLIA agents from across North America, Europe and Asia.

CLIA Managing Director Australasia Joel Katz said sustainability issues are increasingly important for travel advisors as cruise lines head towards net-zero carbon cruising by 2050.

Over the next few years, the industry will launch more vessels with zero-emissions propulsion by incorporating fuel cells or batteries and investing in shoreside electricity.

“An enormous amount of work is underway to shape the cruise industry of the future and we need to include travel agents on the path forward,” Mr Katz said.

“We are encouraging all our agent members to fill in this survey, tell us what’s important to their clients and let us know how we can better support them.”

Look out for the survey in this week’s CLIA e-newsletter.
