Adam Dallmann from Flight Centre Robina had a dream – which thanks to Star Alliance his Inspirational Journey is about to become reality, with the Queensland consultant winning an $11,000 prize that will take him and his partner on a spectacular global alpine adventure.
The Star Alliance challenge to Australian travel agents was simple: adopt a theme that truly inspires you and use it to create a world-circling itinerary that makes the best use of Star Alliance’s unrivalled global network of 1300 destination in 191 countries.
Star Alliance Chair Tim Clyde-Smith says the response was extraordinary.
“Travel agents from across the country really embraced the opportunity to show their creativity. We saw pretty much everything – caffeine-infused excursions, high-spirited pursuits of cocktails, ‘endangered liaisons’ with wildlife, a celebration of ‘the world game’ and the ultimate fantasy flights for movie and theatre lovers.”
In the end what most captured judges imagination was a cool-clime itinerary coined ‘Mountains Are Calling’:

‘Sydney – Tokyo (Hakuba powder snow) – Istanbul (a trek through the lush mountains hugging the Black Sea) – Geneva (a drive through the Swiss Alps to Chamonix) – Oslo (Northern Lights) – Edinburgh (to explore the ruins of Scottish Highlands) – Denver (the US Rocky Mountains) – Vancouver (Whistler and Canada’s Coast Mountains) – Brisbane’.

“My partner Rebecca and I spent about four years living in Canada, spending summers hiking in Banff and then working in the ski fields during the winter,” says Adam. “I pretty much got to snowboard all winter so it was heaven.
“The destinations we chose for ‘Mountains Are Calling’ are not just some of the most beautiful regions of the world, they are also closest to some of the best ski resorts that we’ve enjoyed or we have always dreamed of experiencing.”
As the lucky winner of the Inspirational Journeys competition, Adam and Rebecca will now experience the itinerary using (confirmed space) tickets on Star Alliance member airlines valued at $11,000.
