Are you ready for cruising’s global renaissance? New ships, new destinations and new protocols can make for a lot of updates for travel advisors.
To help equip you with what you need to know, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has opened its 2023 membership for Australia and New Zealand, focusing on providing skills and insights to help travel agents grow their business and “play a leading role in the revival of cruising”.
“All our services are designed to give CLIA members the best support, education and benefits we can, so they emerge stronger and more knowledgeable as the travel industry recovers,” CLIA Managing Director Australasia Joel Katz said.
“CLIA agents have always been among the most successful agents, and our aim is to help them stand out even more as industry leaders.”
Education will again be a key focus in 2023, with an extensive range of professional development options to ensure CLIA agents excel as cruise specialists, Katz said.
Rewards program is back
Get bonus commissions and other rewards when you book with participating CLIA cruise lines thanks to CLIA’s Travel Agent Rewards Program, back for 2023.
The scheme offers rewards with a combined indicative value of over $1500, meaning agents can potentially recoup the cost of their membership and then some.
More live events (and awards)
Aside from the annual Cruise360 Australasia conference, the travelling education program CLIA LIVE will travel to key cities throughout next year.
CLIA is also reviving its Cruise Industry Awards, which will honour the region’s most dedicated travel agents at a gala dinner in Sydney.
Supporting the industry
According to Katz, CLIA membership will continue to support the industry’s advocacy efforts in Australia and New Zealand, to help “ensure prosperity for the wider cruise community into the future”.
“Cruising’s revival in Australia and New Zealand has come after a long and hard-fought campaign by CLIA, our cruise lines and our travel agent members,” Katz said.
“Having raised our voice and lifted public understanding of the benefits of cruising, we want to maintain the momentum and help build further support across our region.”
CLIA was honoured earlier this month at Australia’s National Travel Industry Awards (NTIAs), where it received the award for ‘Most Outstanding Travel Industry Training Institution’.
