Flight Centre has just released its comprehensive review of FCTG in 2022 – and what a year it was, with the reopening of international borders and the long-awaited return of travel, aligning with the company’s 40th anniversary.
Time to get away from everyone? When it comes to its customer base, Australia’s biggest travel agency group proved popular among solo travellers, with almost half (45 per cent) of every flight booked in 2022 for those going it alone.
Not far behind the leading demographic were couples, who accounted for 38 per cent of all customers.
Following these, though significantly behind, were family and group bookings, with 10 per cent and seven per cent of bookings respectively.
Flight Centre’s oldest client was 94 years young, while nearly 15,000 babies were booked on flights.
Here we share Flight Centre’s customers’ favourite family and cruise destinations, tour departure points and hotels for 2022.

What’s the outlook for FCTG in 2023?

Announcing its 2022 financial results in August this year, Flight Centre Travel Group reported a $183 million full-year loss, which FCTG said was a 46 per cent improvement on the $338 million loss from last year, and below the company’s previous prediction of up to a $190 million loss.
Looking ahead to 2023, FCTG said at the time that profit would be a challenge to forecast in the short term and expected to be heavily weighted towards the second half of the financial year, reflecting seasonality with peak booking months in the January-June period.
