Famil fun: FCTG Independent advisors enjoy the Med with Viking

Viking recently hosted six FCTG Independent advisors and their partners on an exciting eight-day Mediterranean cruise, exploring historic ports and ancient artefacts in Greece, Turkey and Italy.

The Journey to Antiquities voyage from Athens to Rome transported guests back to the ancient world – with mod cons on board, of course – sailing on the 930-guest Viking Sky small ship.

Hosted by Viking Cruise Consultant Liz Sawyers, the group indulged in all the onboard ship offerings. This included destination-inspired cuisine, afternoon tea in the Wintergarden, cocktail-making courses, the Nordic spa and fitness centre and informative lectures.

FCTG Independent Agent Julianne D’Allesandro loved the ease and smoothness of the cruise, from embarkation to disembarkation.

“As a travel agent for over 30 years, this is definitely the best ocean cruise I have ever done. Spacious and so many areas to sit and relax in,” she said.

Anna Bayley enjoyed the personalised service, fabulous food options and variety of shore excursions to suit everyone.

“I would never have guessed that there were 900 passengers on the ship. It felt like a floating boutique hotel with the advantage of waking up in a different destination each day – I loved it!” she said.

Highlights included climbing Europe’s largest active volcano Mt Etna and exploring coastal Taormina and its spectacular 2nd-century Greek theatre.

Many said the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii was not to be missed, along with sun-kissed Sorrento.

Advisor Melissa Goodwin said: “There is a wide selection of shore excursions to suit all types and interests and enable guests to see so much more of a destination.”

“Thank you to Viking for supporting agents with these incentives. This was just what I needed to reinvigorate my love for our travel industry and build my confidence in cruising again,” she said.

The cruise company hosted a group of Aussie agents on a Europe river cruise in June 2022, among the first Australian advisors to sail with Viking since 2019.
