Avalon Waterways hosted 19 FCTG advisors aboard its new seasonal cruise, Festive Season in the Heart of Germany, where the very merry crew enjoyed a raft of activities, food and sights on the six-day river voyage in late November.
Cruising on Avalon Artistry II, the Flight Centre, Travel Associates and FCTG Independent advisors kicked off the Avalon Waterways famil with a guided visit to Nuremberg.
The attendees toured the Old Town with a stop at its traditional Christmas market where they sampled local specialty lebkuchen, a spicy gingerbread.

The group then launched into UNESCO World Heritage Site Bamberg to view the town’s locally built nativity scenes before cruising to charming Würzburg to sip glühwein (hot mulled wine), learn how to bake traditional cookies and soak up Christmas traditions.

A guided walk of one of many postcard-perfect Bavarian villages on the Main River, a tributary of the Rhine, left guests dazzled before the cruise sailed into its final port of Frankfurt.

Advisors praised the experience, calling out its flexibility and their excitement to recommend Avalon to clients.
“You just don’t want it to end. The whole experience leaves you planning for your return,” FCTG Independent New Zealand General Manager Jason Buckley said. “Having the flexibility to do as much or as little as you like was just perfect.”

Globus family of brands Global Account Manager Mitch Spencer organised the trip with fellow co-hosts Susie Coughlin, Regional Sales Manager for Victoria, Tasmania, SA and NT, Brett Simon, Head of New Zealand, and Peter Douglas, Head of Sales for Globus in Australasia.
FCTG senior leaders also embarked on an Avalon Waterways France famil in September.
