Intrepid Travel has partnered with global transformational leadership initiative Homeward Bound to support and inspire women and non-binary people in STEMM with new leadership scholarships aimed at shaping a more sustainable future.

The Homeward Bound initiative is open to women and non-binary individuals with backgrounds in STEMMM from around the world with Indigenous, people of colour (POC) and members from marginalised communities strongly encouraged to apply. Applications close on 21 March 2025.

Intrepid Travel will sponsor three fully funded scholarships in the 2025 intake, which involves an online program combining leadership coaching, strategy development and visibility for participants with access to a global peer network.

At the end of the program, Homeward Bound’s cohort will have the opportunity to participate in an immersive expedition in Tanzania, designed by Intrepid Travel to reinforce the leadership learning through real-world experiences.

Intrepid Travel General Manager ANZ Yvette Thompson said that as a purpose-led B Corp, Intrepid is proud to invest in this transformational program.

“By removing financial barriers, we want to support women and non-binary people who may have faced financial constraints to apply and seize this opportunity to lead, grow and shape the sustainable future of our planet,” she said.

“We’re especially mindful of ensuring that participants from developing countries and First Nations communities have access to this funding.”

Homeward Bound CEO Sarah Derry said: “Intrepid’s commitment to sustainability and inclusion perfectly aligns with our mission to develop future leaders. This partnership will amplify our global network and bring diverse voices to the forefront.”

“The post-program expedition to Tanzania has been tailored by Intrepid Travel to connect the participants with the region’s people, culture, breathtaking biodiversity and iconic conservation areas, such as the Serengeti.

“Intrepid’s generous funding allows even more diverse voices into our global network, making this transformational experience more inclusive, accessible and give women the courage to step forward as the bold, visionary leaders the world urgently needs.”
