If you haven’t already, meet TravelManagers’ Erin Ross – she’s a Travel Agent, a mother and a heroine doing everything she can to help find the cure to a fast-growing killer.
The personal travel manager (PTM) along with her two children – Maia and Ryle – recently used every bit of free time they had to host some 140 people at a cocktail-style function where they raised over $13,500 for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
Speaking at the Elysium Restaurant and Bar (who provided the venue), Erin told attendees how brain cancer had touched her family with the diagnosis and loss of their husband and dad, Matt, four years ago.
She said that currently there is “little hope” for people diagnosed with this particular kind of cancer, which is “the biggest killing cancer of young people in Australia”.
“We need to find a cure for brain cancer.”

“We can’t change what’s happened,” Ross continued. “Matt wouldn’t want us sitting around moping. We want to make him proud. We are not the first family who has been through this, and we won’t be the last.”
In addition to raising funds through event ticket sales, the Ross family held an auction on holiday packages such as a Royal Caribbean cruise and 12-night Thailand holiday; gift hampers; and jewellery.
They raised additional funds through the sale of two specially-designed TravelManagers beanies, including a superhero-themed beanie made by Ryley who was inspired by his sister’s fundraising work through handmaid bead angels that she began making when their father was sick.
TravelManagers coordinated the raffles and auctions on the night, and Executive General Manager, Michael Gazal, says the company is exceptionally proud of the efforts made by PTMs like Ross to support causes that are important to them.
