South Korea just made it even easier for Australians and New Zealanders to say “Annyeonghaseyo!” The K-ETA exemption for citizens of Australia and New Zealand has been officially extended until 31 December 2025, meaning one more year of stress-free, visa-free adventures in one of Asia’s hottest travel destinations.
Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) are excited to announce that the K-ETA exemption period has been extended until 31 December 2025.
What does this mean for your clients?

If you’re an Australian or New Zealand passport holder, you can visit Korea visa-free without needing to apply for a Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA).
Originally set to expire on 31 December 2024, this exemption has been extended due to the overwhelming success of Korea’s Visit Korea Year 2023–2024 initiative. With more Aussies and Kiwis discovering Korea’s magic than ever before, it’s clear that this is one destination you don’t want to miss!
The exemption benefits citizens from 68 countries, including Australia and New Zealand. For further information, visit www.k-eta.go.kr.

Do you have a client who isn’t exempt?

For nationals of countries not exempt from K-ETA, an online application must be submitted at least 72 hours before departure to South Korea and approved prior to travel. The cost of the K-ETA is 10,000 Korean Won (approximately AUD 11) per person. Nationals from exempt countries who opt to apply for K-ETA will be able to pass through immigration without submitting an arrival card.
Existing K-ETAs will remain valid until their original expiration date, two years after issuance. Please note that refunds will not be issued.
