Destination Webinars turns two and proves webinars still have a place in the travel industry

After launching in April 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic to keep the travel industry connected, Destination Webinars is celebrating two years of operations. But, as the world re-opens and face-to-face events make a comeback, it begs the question of whether webinars and online events still have a place for travel agents and the industry?

After launching in April 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic to keep the travel industry connected, Destination Webinars is celebrating two years of operations. But, as the world re-opens and face-to-face events make a comeback, it begs the question of whether webinars and online events still have a place for travel agents and the industry?

Destination Webinars says it certainly believes webinars and online events DO you have a place in the travel industry after speaking directly to their travel agent audience.

They asked what their preferences are around webinar updates as they get back to selling travel and in-person events, and this led to some key findings.

The survey revealed that agents are keen to hear from destinations and suppliers from around the world, so long as topics are focused, short, and provide value.

Agents don’t have the luxury of time to spend an hour or more on an update, which is why time is the most significant barrier to attending live webinars and why accessible recordings are essential.

For better attendance, midweek days are preferred among agents and it’s important that the person delivering the update is an expert in that destination or product.

What’s more, prizes were not found to be the number one reason for attendance, but instead, advanced information or ‘insider information’ is a compelling incentive to join so agents can differentiate themselves in the industry.

Founder and ‘Stress-Free Webinar Host’, Charlie Trevena supports this from her own experience saying, “I have been hosting travel trade webinars since 2011 and they have been, and remain, an essential part of a destination or supplier toolkit, alongside face-to-face activities.

“You can’t beat a well-run webinar for a cost-effective update direct from the source to agents across Australia and New Zealand.”

Destination Webinars has spent the last two years building a trade webinar library of over 200 destination and supplier updates to be viewed on-demand when the time suits.

And in celebration of its 2nd birthday, the company is now adding webinar consultation to assist with webinar planning, as well as behind-the-scenes-facilitation offering live support on the day.

Destination Webinars has also been building its team with latest recruit, experienced industry BDM Sarah Arane, joining behind-the-scenes and hosting the new 5-minute Friday sessions.
