Million-dollar agents: TravelManagers PTMs outperform 2019 sales in travel rebound

More and more personal travel managers (PTMs) are on track to crack the million-dollar-sale mark, reporting sales past pre-pandemic levels after several best-ever booking months for TravelManagers in 2022 as the industry continues its recovery.

More and more personal travel managers (PTMs) are on track to crack the million-dollar-sale mark, reporting sales past pre-pandemic levels after several best-ever booking months for TravelManagers in 2022 as the industry continues its recovery.

A record number of high-performing PTMs has emerged in the past six months with almost 32 per cent in the top band of advisors compared to 17.5 per cent in 2019.

The announcement follows multiple record sales months during 2022, culminating in a record-breaking December with an average 85.7 per cent increase in growth per PTM compared to December 2019.

TravelManagers Finance & Commercial Manager Tanyu Cilek said the December results demonstrate a wider long-running growth trend.

“From July to December 2022, our PTMs recorded an average of 52 per cent growth compared with the equivalent six-month period in 2019,” Mr Cilek said.

“The top-performing PTMs are achieving leisure sales results that would more commonly be seen in corporate call centres.

“The number of advisors on track for at least $1 million in sales this financial year has tripled since 2019, while those on track for $1.5 million-plus has doubled.”

According to Mr Cilek, PTMs are seeing a trend towards high-value holidays. Europe and South America sales were up 45 per cent and 55 per cent respectively alongside a 58 per cent increase in Australian travel.

“There is also strong evidence to support a resurgence in the perceived value of the travel agent with significant sales increases in every segment from air to insurance and land,” he said.

“We are delighted to be entering 2023 in such a strong position. We look forward to seeing our PTMs reap the rewards of so much hard work and dedication over the past three years.”
