Movers and shakers: Dani Tuffield appointed General Manager for Karryon

We've just popped the champers. Why? Because Karryon is thrilled to announce that Dani Tuffield has been appointed as our new General Manager, based in our head office in Sydney.

We’ve just popped the champers. Why? Because Karryon is thrilled to announce that Dani Tuffield has been appointed as our new General Manager, based in our head office in Sydney.

Dani initially joined Karryon last July at the height of the pandemic as Partnerships Manager, stepping in for Haley Janssens as she headed off on maternity leave.

Since then, Dani has played an instrumental role in working with new and existing partners to drive the arrival revival of the travel industry and rebuild the Karryon team, its commercial offerings, and its culture.

With an illustrious career in travel and tourism spanning twenty-plus years, Dani previously spent over a decade at leading travel representation and specialist marketing agency Gate7 as their Tourism Development Director in Sydney.

During her time at Gate7, Dani led tourism development strategies for numerous leading travel brands, including Brand USA, Visit California, Visit Germany and over fifteen state city and regional destination tourism boards in the Americas.

Before working at Gate7, Dani spent eight years as an account manager at Air New Zealand, was a sales manager for Air Calin, and played a pivotal part in the launch of Delta Airlines Australia-USA route and its subsequent commercial success.

Dani’s new GM role at Karryon will involve leading the team and further strengthening Karryon’s extensive industry partner relationships while exploring strategic new ventures for the media brand.

Speaking about the appointment, Matt Leedham, Karryon founder and editor at large, said, “Dani’s appointment as GM is an incredible milestone moment for Karryon that all of us in the team are deeply proud of and grateful for.”

“Having already worked closely together for the last ten months and seen the innovation and success Dani has realised in what have been extremely challenging times, I couldn’t be more excited to see where Dani will take the brand and business next.”

“More than anything, I love Dani’s infectious passion, energy and genuine care for the people of the travel industry and the positive difference she always strives to make in everything she does. We’re so fortunate to be able to continue working with her.”

Dani said of her new appointment, “I am so honoured to be able to continue my time at Karryon and now lead the most innovative, caring and inspirational team. I love what the brand stands for and provides to our travel community, and I am so excited to continue to enhance our offerings with our wonderful partners.”

Karryon has recently moved into a new head office at 175 Pitt Street in Sydney’s CBD and has welcomed expanded changes to the team as it rebuilds for a bright future.

Long-time Partnerships Director Haley Janssens has recently returned from maternity leave while new team member Liz Brumpton has joined Karryon from Scenic as Campaign Manager.

Karryon is also recruiting full-time staff writers, a social content creator and an event manager as part of its post-pandemic brand evolution.
