Globus family of brands(GFOB) has named two-time NTIA winner Barbara Baron as business development manager for New South Wales and the ACT, covering Globus, Cosmos and Avalon Waterways.

Affectionately known as “Babs”, Baron brings more than 30 years of travel industry experience to one of GFOB’s most competitive trade markets. In the role, Baron becomes the direct point of contact for travel advisors and trade partners across NSW and the ACT, taking on the group’s guided touring brands Globus and Cosmos alongside luxury river cruise operator Avalon Waterways.

Her remit centres on retaining and growing existing revenue, strengthening key partnerships and driving sales initiatives across the region.

Baron arrives most recently from APT Travel Group, and her career spans retail consulting, wholesale call centres, sales leadership and airline account management in both Australia and the UK.

She was named Most Outstanding Sales Executive (Cruise) at the NTIA Awards in 2024 and again in 2025, back-to-back wins the group has flagged as central to her appointment.

Globus family of brands head of commercial Australia and New Zealand Brett Simon is says the company is thrilled with the addition of Baron to the business.

“We’re excited to welcome Babs to the team and look forward to the experience and energy she’ll inject,” he states.

Brett Simon, Head of Commercial Australasia at Globus, says demand for small-group touring is strong enough to reshape portfolio strategy.

“NSW and the ACT are some of our most competitive trade markets, and her two NTIA wins back-to-back speak to the calibre of expertise she brings to the role.”

Baron says the move gives her the chance to bring fresh energy to a portfolio she has long admired.

“Thirty years in and I still get a kick out of walking into a room and figuring out what’s going to make an advisor’s client fall in love with a trip,” she remarks.

“That hasn’t changed. What has changed is the calibre of the brands I get to do it with, Globus, Cosmos and Avalon have real trust in this market, and I want to build on that, not just maintain it.”

Baron’s arrival follows the appointment of Christopher Leigh as GFOB’s new managing director Asia Pacific, commencing 27 July 2026. Read more about that news here.
