After steering TTC’s portfolio of tour brands as President in North America, Melissa DaSilva has stepped up to the role of Interim CEO of TTC Tour Brands globally.
Effective immediately, DaSilva takes the reins from long-time chief executive Gavin Tollman, who will leave the business when US private equity firm Apollo takes ownership of The Travel Corporation (TTC) in a deal announced in July this year.
Bringing more than 30 years of travel industry nous to the interim position, Melissa will oversee TTC Tour Brands’ six brands, including Trafalgar, Insight Vacations and Contiki, among others.
According to TTC, Tollman will support DaSilva during the transition, while the new CEO will assist in the search for her successor as President of North America.
“Melissa has consistently demonstrated her business acumen and leadership throughout her tenure as President of North America,” Tollman said.
“Her deep understanding of TTC Tour Brands’ diverse portfolio and her strategic vision make her the ideal choice to steer the company through this pivotal time.”
DaSilva said she was “excited and honoured to lead TTC Tour Brands through this important phase in its history”.
“The opportunities ahead for the brands and the talented teams behind them are immense,” she added.
“Together, we will ensure a seamless transition and set a strong foundation for continued success.”
Apollo’s acquisition of The Travel Corporation is expected to close in the last quarter of the calendar and US fiscal year, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
