Following six years of leadership at Globus family of brands (GFOB), Gai Tyrrell has stepped down from her position as Managing Director Asia Pacific.
While Tyrrell’s resignation takes immediate effect, GFOB, which comprises the Globus, Cosmos and Avalon Waterways brands, has yet to announce her replacement.
Tyrrell took the reins of the Asia Pacific region for GFOB in August 2018, subsequently steering the company through a restructuring in APAC and navigating the group through the Covid pandemic.
She also led GFOB’s expansion into Asia, with the appointment of a distributor for Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea and the Philippines among her initiatives.
“It has been a privilege and a joy to be part of the Globus family and to lead the business in our region through the past six years of change,” she stated.
“This has been a difficult decision and one I have not taken lightly, however with major projects completed, and an excellent commercial management team in place, the foundation is set for the next phase of the company growth in our region.”
Globus family of brands CEO Scott Nisbet praised Tyrrell’s impact on the company.
“We thank Gai for her energy and contributions leading GFOB through a particularly challenging era in Asia Pacific,” Scott said.
“During her tenure, our profile in Asia Pacific elevated markedly, she strengthened our Australasian headquarters in Sydney and Auckland, led key commercial projects designed to better meet the needs of our partners and customers, and shepherded our operations through the tumultuous Covid Pandemic.
“We wish her the best of success with future endeavours.”
In December, Globus family of brands officially launched its new Travel Advisor Portal (TAP) in Australia, allowing Aussie agents to log onto a better booking experience and improved resource access across Globus, Cosmos and Avalon Waterways.
