The Globus family of brands (GFOB) has announced a significant expansion within its sales team. With key hires and internal promotions, the company is preparing for a busy 2025, driven by growing demand from Aussie travellers. The team shake-up impacts several key regions and roles, as Globus positions itself to capture a larger share of the market in the coming year.
This move involves the promotion of long-standing team members and the introduction of fresh talent, both of which underscore GFOB’s focus on growth, partnerships, and service excellence. Let’s dive into the specifics of who’s stepping into new roles and what these changes mean for the company and its trade partners.
Kate Jury | Business Development Manager Victoria North/West and Tasmania
One of the new faces in the GFOB team is Kate Jury, who joins as the Business Development Manager for Victoria North/West and Tasmania. Kate brings over a decade of experience in the tourism and travel industry, making her an exciting addition to the GFOB sales team.
Before this role, Kate was Business Development Manager at Global Touring, where she represented brands like Back-Roads Touring and Topdeck Travel.
In her previous positions, Kate demonstrated expertise across multiple facets of the industry, including sales, marketing, account management, customer service, and event management. Her ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with trade partners is particularly noteworthy. This strength will be critical in her new position as she works to further expand Globus’ footprint in her assigned region.
“Kate will be a fantastic addition, and her extensive specialist experience in the touring industry will undoubtedly be an asset as we look to increase sales and enhance our position and share in the Australian market,” GFOB Managing Director Asia Pacific Gai Tyrrell said.
Kate’s immediate focus will be on continuing to build relationships with key travel agents and partners, a task she is well-equipped for given her previous experience. Her appointment is effective immediately, and she is already getting to work on Globus’ 2025 goals.
Melinda Wouda | National Account Manager
Melinda Wouda’s promotion marks another key shift within the Globus team. Having spent the last five years as Business Development Manager for western and northern Victoria and Tasmania, Melinda has been a driving force in maintaining and growing key relationships within these regions. Her promotion to National Account Manager is a reflection of her contributions to the company and her deep understanding of the business.
In her previous role, Melinda worked closely with travel agents and trade partners, building strong, long-term partnerships that contributed to steady growth in her territories. Her new national role will see her working on a larger scale, continuing to strengthen and manage these relationships across the entire Australian market. This transition reflects Globus’ confidence in her ability to expand on the success she’s already achieved.
This national role provides Melinda with the opportunity to continue her focus on key relationships but now with a broader remit, as she looks to build on her previous successes at GFOB. Her promotion is also effective immediately.
Josh Galea | Business Development Manager – South & East Victoria
In addition to new hires and promotions, GFOB is also repositioning some of its internal talent. Josh Galea, who rejoined GFOB nine months ago, will now be moving into the role of Business Development Manager for South & East Victoria.
Josh’s return to GFOB saw him lead sales growth in his previous territory, where his efforts produced strong results. This track record of success and his in-depth knowledge of GFOB’s products make him a natural fit for the new role. Josh is set to bring the same focus and commitment to South & East Victoria, and the company is optimistic about the results he’ll deliver in the new territory.
Josh officially steps into this new role on 4 November 2024, and his existing relationships within the company and the industry are expected to help him hit the ground running.
The road ahead for GFOB’s sales team
These key appointments and internal movements highlight GFOB’s commitment to expanding its sales team as part of a larger strategy to drive growth in Australia, positioning itself to capture more market share and strengthen its partnerships with Australian travel agents.
The focus on adding experienced professionals like Kate Jury and promoting proven talent like Melinda Wouda and Josh Galea shows GFOB’s intent to both innovate and build on its existing strengths. The leadership at GFOB, particularly Managing Director Gai Tyrrell, has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to continue building strong relationships with travel agents and trade partners in key regions across the country.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time at GFOB, and we are delighted to be expanding and facilitating internal team growth to set ourselves up for 2025,” said Tyrrell.
