Heller joins AFTA as ACCMC interim Chair

Information technology specialist, Steven Heller, has stepped in to head AFTA's Code of Compliance Monitoring Committee (ACCMC) in an interim capacity.

Information technology specialist, Steven Heller, has stepped in to head AFTA’s Code of Compliance Monitoring Committee (ACCMC) in an interim capacity.

Announced today, Heller’s appointment comes after last week’s resignation of Dr June Smith.

Dr Smith headed the committee for less than a year – appointed in October last year.

Steven Heller, partner at DFK Laurence Varnay, a leading accounting and business advisory firm, will act as Chair effective immediately, whilst AFTA conducts a review of the AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS).

In addition to being DFK Laurence Varnay information technology specialist, Heller also leads a practice of accounting, taxation and audit clients, and has extensive experience in superannuation.

He also has a knowledge of the operation and regulation of travel agencies, having worked closely with IATA and AFTA.
