Ignite Travel Group (ITG) has elevated cruise expert Michael Middleton to the new role of Global Head of Cruise, signalling a major step in its international growth strategy.
Middleton, who has led ITG’s cruise division since 2018, will now oversee global cruise operations across the group, including its UK-based business, Cruise Club UK, acquired last October.
His remit includes steering strategy and scaling cruise partnerships across international markets.
A familiar name in the sector, Middleton brings over 30 years of travel industry experience to the role. His major achievements at Ignite include attracting a 70 per cent new-to-cruise customer base and launching innovative campaigns, like a 371-day world cruise and an exclusive Northern Lights charter with Norwegian Cruise Line.
Middleton is also no stranger to accolades. Under his leadership, My Cruises was named CLIA Australasia’s Multi Location/Brand Cruise Agency of the Year in 2024 at the Cruise Industry Awards, while Michael himself was honoured as Cruise Champion of the Year. In addition, he sits on CLIA’s Travel Agent Advisory Board.
With 100 cruises under his belt, Middleton brings a hands-on understanding of the guest experience. And according to Ignite, that insight continues to shape how it delivers cruise products that appeal to today’s traveller—whether they’re a first-timer or seasoned sailor.

“His strategic thinking, customer-first mindset and willingness to push the boundaries have helped solidify our position as a market leader,” he remarked.
“This role reflects the global ambition of our cruise business and Michael is the right person to lead that charge.”
