Movers + Shakers: Intrepid Travel names Richard Wise as its first Tailor-Made GM

Intrepid Travel has added Richard Wise in the newly created role of General Manager, Tailor-Made to meet demand and drive global expansion for the B Corp travel company’s bespoke travel division.

Intrepid Travel has added Richard Wise in the newly created role of General Manager, Tailor-Made to meet demand and drive global expansion for the B Corp travel company’s bespoke travel division.

Wise brings 13 years’ travel industry experience and expertise to the role. He most recently worked at tailor-made tour operator Audley Travel in the UK and the US in senior positions, including Head of Global Travel.

Based in London, Wise will report directly to Intrepid Travel CEO James Thornton and will be responsible for developing and rapidly scaling the company’s established Tailor-Made business model, which caters for travellers seeking custom immersive experiences.

Tailor-Made trips feature Intrepid’s signature style of experience-rich travel in itineraries crafted for families, friends or private groups. 

The company will accelerate growth in this travel division to meet evolving customer preferences with a 19 per cent year-on-year rise in Tailor-Made bookings.

Thornton said the appointment aligns with Intrepid’s broader strategy to diversify its product portfolio and expand its global footprint
