Marriott International has named Deb McDiarmid as its new Area Director of Marketing – Australia, New Zealand & Pacific to spearhead the hotel group’s strategic marketing and innovation across 47 properties and 16 brands in six countries.
The promotion sees McDiarmid relocate to Sydney from the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort in Port Douglas where she was the Director of Marketing for the past 2.5 years.
She brings 30 years’ international hospitality experience to the role with marketing leadership roles across multiple Marriott brands, including a decade with Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
McDiarmid also played a key role in leveraging the hotel group’s global sustainability initiatives, launching the Earth-Friendly Events Program for meeting planners.
With a focus on enriching communities and expanding to new destinations, McDiarmid’s area marketing strategy will drive brand awareness, market share, revenue and profit within the region.
The promotion of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program will be pivotal to success in the region, inspiring 200-plus million global members to visit Australasia and the Pacific and amplifying high-profile event partnerships in the market.
McDiarmid will also work closely with leaders across Australian, New Zealand and Pacific hotel teams.
McDiarmid said: “I look forward to fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team, aiming to contribute to Marriott’s vision as the world’s favourite travel company with a focus on enriching communities and expanding presence in new destinations.”
“By embodying innovation and adapting to change, we are well poised to further elevate our position as one of the region’s biggest players in hospitality,” she said.
