1. Meet… Scenic’s new Group General Manager, Sales & Marketing

Scenic is delighted to announce the appointment of Anthony Laver as Group General Manager, Sales and Marketing for the Scenic Group in Australia / Asia Pacific region, commencing 18 October 2017.

He joins Scenic from Destination New South Wales, where he spent the past eight years as General Manager Marketing, responsible for creating the strategic marketing plans to grow the NSW overnight visitor economy and overseeing a team of more than 40 people who implemented the programs for more than 140 annual events and integrated campaigns.

Scenic Founder and Chairman Glen Moroney said the company was thrilled to welcome Anthony on board.

“Anthony is a skilled and dedicated leader with a great passion for digital marketing. As we prepare to launch our first ocean ship, Scenic Eclipse in August next year, his extensive domestic and international experience in the travel, major events, retail and entertainment industry will be of immense benefit to Scenic as we look to further enhance and expand our presence globally,” Mr Moroney said.

Prior to his role at Destination NSW, Anthony was the Director of Olympic Marketing for Volkswagen Group China, based in Beijing, he held the position of GM, Olympic Marketing / Brand Alliance for Westfield Group, and was the Director of Marketing, Asia Pacific for Warner Bros Consumer Products (a division of Time Warner).

 

2. Meet… Monaco Government Tourist Bureau’s new Regional Manager for Aus & NZ

The Monaco Government Tourist Bureau is pleased to announce the appointment of Lena Froelich as their new Regional Manager for Australia and New Zealand.

With seven years of experience in various tourism marketing roles across Australia and Europe, Sydney-based Froelich will manage the tourism body’s trade, consumer and MICE activities for Australia and New Zealand.

In her new role, Froelich will be working under the direction of Regional Director Alison Roberts-Brown who has been heading the Monaco account in Australia and New Zealand for many years, as part of a select portfolio of tourism clients held by marketing representation company Tourism Garden that Roberts-Brown created in 2007.

Froelich joined the team this week, and whilst the primary focus of her role will be the Monaco account, she will also be involved in the day-to-day activities of other Tourism Garden clients including the Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau and Visit Kinosaki.

As Regional Manager, Ms Froelich will work alongside key industry partners including tourism industry operators, airlines, corporate and media to attract visitors to Monaco.

Not a stranger to the destination, Froelich was previously involved in the representation of the tourism body in her role as Marketing Executive at Aviareps Oceania, held from 2012 to 2014, where she was also in charge of the Monaco account. More recently, Ms Froelich worked with marketing representation company Complete Travel Marketing as PR, Media & Communications Manager, as well as adventure travel company Chimu Adventures as Marketing & PR Executive.

In welcoming Ms Froelich to the position, Monaco Government Tourist Bureau Regional Director, Ms Alison Roberts-Brown, said that she was “delighted to appoint Ms Froelich to this exciting new role”.

“Ms Froelich will not only bring strongly valuable and extremely extensive experience in tourism marketing but also a huge amount of enthusiasm and drive that, along with her first-hand experience of the destination, will assist us in continuing to drive growth from Australia and New Zealand,” she added.

 

3. Meet… Air Canada’s General Manager Australia & New Zealand

Air Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Vic Naughton as its General Manager – Australia and New Zealand.

Mr. Naughton, who takes up his new Sydney-based position in November, will be responsible for driving Air Canada’s rapidly-expanding commercial activities across Australia and New Zealand.

Air Canada’s Director of Sales Asia-Pacific, Mr. PK Lee, says Vic’s skills and experience will ensure the airline further enhances its strong regional presence.

“We are delighted to welcome Vic to our team at this exciting time as Melbourne is set to become our third Australian port in December, followed by the launch of a seasonal service to Vancouver and the introduction of year-round scheduled services from June 2018,” says Mr. Lee.

“At the same time, the ongoing success of our daily, non-stop flights from Sydney and Brisbane are establishing Vancouver as an important trans-Pacific gateway for Australians and New Zealand travellers to North America and beyond.

“Vic brings a broad understanding of the travel industry, a proven ability to generate business growth and a strong track record of fostering enduring professional networks. As such, he is ideally suited to lead our dynamic commercial team, and to work closely with our valued trade partners to ensure Air Canada sustains its momentum in the South Pacific region.”

He joins Air Canada from American Airlines, where as Head of Sales he has over the past two years played an integral role in the carrier’s successful return to the Australian market.

Prior to joining the aviation sector, Mr. Naughton spent more than 10 years with STA Travel, during which time he held a series of key sales roles in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia, including Regional General Manager Asia Pacific of the global company’s ISIC* Card Division.

 

4. Meet… Booking.com’s Area Manager for Australia

Booking

Booking.com has appointed Luke Wilson as Area Manager for Australia. Wilson will be responsible for the development and leadership of teams in three offices across Australia as well as overseeing the management of Booking.com’s new and existing 18,000+ Australian properties.

Reporting to the Regional Manager for Oceania, Tracey Foxall, Wilson will also focus on the long-term growth of the brand’s offering in Australia, working alongside his team to improve the quality of offer, availability and supply of properties for Booking.com.

Commenting on the appointment of Wilson, Foxall said: “Luke has been in the Booking.com family for over five years and has been a key contributor to operations and the success of Booking.com in Australia. His near 15 years in the tourism industry made him the ideal candidate to lead the Australian market.”

Wilson first joined the Booking.com team in 2012 as an Account Manager for the Pacific Islands and Tropical North Queensland region. His strong tourism and travel background has seen him work across some of the best-known hotel groups in the world, giving him unique insights into the market.

 

5. Meet… Fantasea Cruising’s new General Manager

Angus Campbell has been appointed as the new General Manager of Fantasea Cruising.

Fantasea Cruising GM Angus Campbell said: “It is great to return to Sydney to lead the Fantasea Cruising team through what is poised to be a very busy summer peak period.”

Campbell continued: “With new product like our evening wine bar cruise, competitive new charter rates and the most creative and flexible team on Sydney Harbour, we look forward to continuing with strong growth and industry partnerships.”

 

6. Meet… Topdeck’s new BDM

Topdeck Travel has announced the appointment of Tobin Hartley as their new Business Development Manager for the New South Wales West area.

Hartley’s knowledge of youth travel is extensive, with three years’ experience as a retail Team Leader in Australia and already four years with the youth tour operator based out of the UK and Europe.

Hartley began his Topdeck journey as crew member in Europe before Hartley was promoted to Crew Trainer and Brand Ambassador where he travelled Europe extensively.

Hartley comments: “It was a valuable experience working as a Brand Ambassador focusing on ensuring our crew felt inspired to deliver the very best product possible”.

Hartley has now returned to Australia, responsible for educating Agents about the brand’s products in the New South Wales West area. His extensive travel knowledge, passion for Topdeck and retail background makes him a perfect addition to the Topdeck sales team.

 

7. Meet… A&K’s new International Sales Manager

Luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) has appointed Jeff King in the role of International Sales Manager. With nearly a decade of experience in retail, corporate and group travel under his belt, King brings with him a wealth of industry expertise and a real passion developing people.

Says King, “It is with great pride that I join A&K. A company who puts the customer first, values its culture whilst remaining dynamic in an ever-changing market place. It’s a privilege to become part of the A&K story and I very much look forward to working with the team to build on previous success.”

Originally from the UK, Jeff is a keen soccer fan and proudly supports both Premier League side Everton and, more locally, can be found in the stands watching Melbourne City FC. He has a passion for travel, a love for his family and is always looking forward to the next adventure.

King will be responsible for the continued development and success of A&K’s private travel desk, international sales team and international operations department.
