The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has welcomed Ingrid Fraser as its new Director of Public Policy & Advocacy to continue to drive state- and territory-level policy outcomes to benefit member businesses.

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has welcomed Ingrid Fraser as its new Director of Public Policy & Advocacy to continue to drive state- and territory-level policy outcomes to benefit member businesses.

Ms Fraser’s appointment aligns with AFTA’s key focus to support travel businesses and the wider sector in rebuilding the post-pandemic workforce.

Ms Fraser brings extensive expertise in policy development, advocacy, government relations and stakeholder engagement at all levels of government to the role.

In her previous role as Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) Associate Director – Workforce & Tourism Policy, her portfolio covered tourism, migration, employment and workforce participation, while her multi-disciplinary background also includes experience as a lawyer.

AFTA CEO Dean Long said Ms Fraser’s skills will complement and expand the organisation’s existing government relations.

“Ingrid’s appointment will strengthen the industry’s ability to engage with governments around Australia,” he said.

Ms Fraser said: “I am looking forward to being part of AFTA’s ongoing work to ensure the travel sector’s success.”

“AFTA’s work in positively shaping the landscape for the benefit of the entire travel sector has been impressive. There’s a very real opportunity to continue to advance understanding of the value of travel within government.

“As an avid traveller, I’m excited to advocate on behalf of an industry I love, particularly at a time when the travel sector is undergoing such rapid change.”
