Movers + Shakers: Brett Harvey starts at CATO as Business Development & Events Manager

The Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) has appointed Brett Harvey in the newly created role of Business Development & Events Manager in line with the organisation’s strategic expansion plans and to bring in additional revenue streams.

The Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) has appointed Brett Harvey in the newly created role of Business Development & Events Manager in line with the organisation’s strategic expansion plans and to bring in additional revenue streams.

The new role, which will sit across both CATO and its sister association, the Student Educational Travel Organisation (SETO), will be fundamental in expanding membership, re-establishing and growing CATO’s annual events program and identifying new revenue opportunities for both associations.

Industry stalwart Brett Harvey brings more than 22 years’ experience to the role and is known for his Business Development and Partnership roles with five years at the Intrepid Group and 12 years with The Travel Corporation.

His most recent role was teaching tourism, enterprise and entrepreneurship courses in Bangkok for the last two years.

CATO Managing Director Brett Jardine said it was an exciting time for the organisation and industry as it moves into the post-pandemic recovery phase.

“We recognise the increased support and initiatives that are needed for our membership to help them through these challenging times. Bringing in additional revenue streams will allow us to realise and activate our plans across multiple areas to further assist our members as they rebuild their businesses,” Mr Jardine said.

“Brett Harvey’s knowledge and experience will add great value to the CATO membership.”

The news follows the recent appointment of Lisa Pagotto as Vice-Chair of the CATO board.
