Akorn DMC and Sanctuary Retreats has appointed Fiona Cogar sales director Australia and New Zealand at a time when it is seeing “particularly strong interest” in travel to Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe.

With more than 20 years of travel industry experience working with the Aussie and Kiwi markets, Cogar will support the global Sanctuary Retreats portfolio and over thirty Akorn destinations around the world.

Cogar also has more than 12 years of experience managing DMC sales for Emirates/dnata in Dubai and as Kerzner leisure sales manager in Australia.

“As desire for premium and luxury tour operators is returning fast, I am pleased that Fiona has joined us at this pivotal time,” Akorn senior vice president of sales and Sanctuary Retreats global director of sales and marketing Pieter van der Schee said.

“Among our over 30 world-wide Akorn destinations, we are seeing particularly strong interest from Australians travelling to Southeast Asia, Egypt, Africa and Europe, while our luxury Sanctuary camps and lodges in Africa, and Nile cruises in Egypt, are in great demand too.

“We welcome Fiona and know she’ll be a powerful addition to the team.”

With over 55 offices in more than 30 countries, Akorn is the world’s largest network of luxury destination management companies (DMCs).

Operating for 60 years, its services are only available to travel industry professionals.

Sanctuary Retreats operates luxury safari lodges and camps across Africa and manages cruise ships on the rivers Nile in Egypt, Yangtze in China and Irrawaddy in Myanmar.

Akorn DMC is part of the Abercrombie & Kent Group of Companies but operates as a completely independent DMC.
