Air New Zealand has announced the appointment of Kathryn O’Brien as the airline’s new General Manager in Australia.
Ms O’Brien joins Air New Zealand with over 20 years of Sales & Marketing experience within the Tourism & Hospitality industry, predominantly within the hotel sector, and most recently with activities and experiences.
Ms O’Brien previously worked for Experience Co. where she served as Chief Revenue Officer from 2019 until, more recently, being given a broader remit of Chief Commercial Officer.
Prior to Experience Co., Ms O’Brien worked at Hamilton Island for four years as General Manager of Sales.

In a statement announcing Ms O’Brien’s appointment, Jeremy O’Brien, Air New Zealand’s short-haul General Manager based in Auckland, said, “I’d like to thank Michael Zorbas (Zorby), who has stepped up to the mark and led the region in the capacity of Acting General Manager.
“The fact the region has continued to be a standout performer as part of the international restart is in no small part due to the experienced leadership Zorby has provided alongside our strong market leadership group.
“Australia is an incredibly important market to the airline and continues to be a high-performing region in our global network.
“This is a pivotal leadership appointment, and I’m excited by the skills that Kathryn will add to our already strong Australia leadership group across Commercial, Customer and Airports,” said Mr O’Brien.
Ms O’Brien will begin her new role with Air New Zealand on 13 February 2023.
